Well, as predicted, the Dems on the redistricting commission rejected the GOP's suggestions for a commission chairman, even though they were great choices such as political science professor Craig Wilson of Billings, simply because they want the very liberal Supreme Court to pick the chairman.
It was good to see the press finally get around to covering a meeting. Unfortunately, it was sort of like closing the barn door after the horse had run out.
So will the state's newspapers editorialize and encourage the court to pick a nonpartisan chairman? Fat chance of that, I'd say.
Regarding editorializing at the IR, here's Mike Dennison's take printed over the weekend. Once again, closing with a bash at Bennion and a proclamation of a "divided" Montana. More wishful thinking in my opinion than anything else by Mr. Dennison.
"Fat chance" for sure, no matter who at the IR writes it up.
